A Harvard study showed that Blacks and Asians received more callbacks for a job when they “whitened” their resumes, mainly by using an American-sounding name versus their full real name. Of Black candidates, 25% received callbacks from adjusting their resumes, but only 10% received callbacks if they left any ethnic details on their resume.
This is just one of many examples of how our systems are biased and why we need to tackle this issue.
